Schenectady Co. CC losing teaching chef

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Christopher Tanner, a top teaching staff, is leaving the area.

As of February 1, Tanner will become director of the Culinary Institute at Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania. The school recently announced a $3 million project to build a new facility. Groundbreaking is scheduled for March 23. The institute will offer both a one-year certificate in Culinary Arts Program and a two-year Culinary Arts Associate in Applied Science degree.

That will be a major loss for Schenectady County Community College's culinary arts program where Chris has been such a major part. I've enjoyed co-judging with Chris at all sorts of local culinary competitions in the past few years.

Luckily, he'll stay on the SCCC Advisory Board. Also, he notes on his Facebook page, "I will continue... to support the local ACF CD-CNY (local chapter of the American Culinary Federation) with more information to come."
