If your mom loves plants, flowers, crafts and fine art then check out the special event being presented by the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens in Elmore, Ohio on Saturday, May 10.

Meet the Artists Event Taking place at the Garden Argosy Gift Shop on the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens property, this event includes lots of fun, educational activities for the family including a scavenger hunt, face painting, a bonsai demonstration, fly fishing, a wool spinning demonstration and a butterfly and insect display.

Mom will get to shop for some unique handcrafted merchandise like jewelry, hand-blown glass items, origami items, clay leaf impressions, hand-painted butterfly houses and sea glass jewelry.

There will be a featured demonstration by artist Jan Pugh of Packer Creek Pottery. Visitors will be able to watch her create her famous majolica ceramics on the pottery wheel. Other artists will also be on hand.

There will be live musical entertainment during the event and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Mom will be able to gather gardening information and can purchase some perennial plants to take home for her garden. And be sure to stroll through the Arboretum and Gardens which are sure to be in bloom.

A Bit About Schedel Arboretum & Gardens Founded by Joseph and Marie Schedel, Schedel Arboretum & Gardens was first opened to the public in 1991 and features 17 acres of gardens with more than 15,000 annuals, flowering trees, perennials, shrubs and many plant species not normally found in our region.

One of the high point attractions at Schedel Arboretum & Gardens is the Japanese Garden located on the Portage River floodplain which features bridges, stone lanterns, a pagoda, a stupa with a Buddhist shrine and two waterfalls that empty into streams and pools than then flow into two lakes filled with a wide variety of fish.

Hours for the Meet the Artists event are 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Admission is free. There is an admission charge if you wish to see the gardens. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for children.
