Schaumburg Flyers News and Notes

The Schaumburg Flyers host a celebrity infused event on July 28th inspired by the eight-time All Star Andre Dawson. The Andre Dawson & Friends Celebrity Softball Event celebrates Andre Dawson's induction in to The National Baseball Hall of Fame . The event consists of a 4:30 p.m. Northern League baseball game between the Flyers and the Joliet Jackhammers, free autographs from Andre and Friends, a special commemorative souvenir and a 7 inning softball game exhibition with celebrity and baseball legends. For more information, visit www.flyersbaseball.com or call the Flyers ticket office at 847-891-2255.

Two celebrity additions have been made to the Andre Dawson & Friends Celebrity Softball Event. E! News Anchor Giuliana Rancic and her reality show winner husband Bill Rancic join the star-studded cast (Curb Your Enthusiasm's Jeff Garland and Cheers' George Wendt are among the participants).

Flyers hitting coach Brian Nelson and pitching coach Jim Miksis no longer claim residence at Alexian Field. Field Manager Mike Busch replaced his former coaching personal with former Chicago Cub Pete LaCock and former Schaumburg Flyer Drew Dickinson for the 2010 season. LaCock's nine year tenure in the Majors and Dickinson's strong familiarity with the organization hopefully produce a Championship worthy season.

The Flyers hold Open Tryouts at 11:00 am at Alexian Field on May 2nd, 2010. Players can sign up in advance to hold their spot by visiting www.flyersbaseball.com. The cost to participate is $40.00.

The 2010 season for the Flyers officially starts May 20th against the Rockford Riverhawks at the Riverhawks ball park, but the real fun doesn't begin until the Flyers come home on May 25th. The season opener not only features a spectacular display of minor league baseball again, but the debut of the 2-Dollar Tuesday promotion. Visit  www.flyersbaseball for ticket information.
