SCBWI plans picture book writing workshop in Spokane (Photos)

The Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is planning a writing workshop for picture book writers in Spokane this coming March. The workshop will be taught by Tricia Lawrence from the Erin Murphy Literary Agency. The cost is $49.00 for SCBWI members and $69.00 for non-members.

Tricia is an agent for children’s writers, and according to the Erin Murphy Literary Agency website, Tricia “takes on picture books, chapter and middle grade and young adult fiction that offer strong world building, wounded narrators, and stories that grab a reader and won't let go.”

The SCBWI website says that Tricia plans to discuss popular trends in today’s picture book market and how to write picture books that will sell, as well as how to skillfully use “voice” in picture books. She will also address the subject of if finding an agent is necessary, plus how to find one.
