Kiersi Burkhart is the featured speaker at a special writers workshop sponsored by the Oregon Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. (SCBWI Oregon) This event takes place Saturday afternoon, April 19, at TaborSpace in Portland OR. The topic of the workshop is Scrivener Secrets.
What is Scrivener? Scrivener is a word-processing program for authors that allows them to organize and store: project notes, outlines, photos, drawings, character sketches, research documents, rough drafts, revisions, and a host of other information. No more bulletin boards, whiteboards, flow charts, index cards, or sticky notes stuck to the walls. No more fumbling with heavy 3 ring binders or color-coded files. Everything a writer needs to write, revise, and polish his/her book can now be found all in one place.
In Scrivener Secrets, NW author and professional copywriter Kiersi Burkhart will introduce newcomers to this powerful new writing tool. Workshop participants will learn "practical, simple tools for outlining their novels, organizing their writing materials, and revising their rough drafts with ease and efficiency."
Kiersi Burkhart is a freelance copywriter and the author of both middle grade and YA stories. Her debut novel is titled The Devil's Fire. With a background in web design, development, and IT support, she believes in embracing technology to make the writing process easier. She lives and works in Portland.
Scrivener Secrets is part of The Next Level Professional Series--a series of monthly writers workshops sponsored by SCBWI Oregon. The seminars are held the third Saturday of each month at TaborSpace which is located at 5441 SE Belmont in Portland OR. Doors open at 2 pm and the presentations take place from 2:30-4 pm.
