The Mermaid Event Center held its annual Scavengers Car Show on Sunday, July 27th.
For the most part, the weather cooperated with only a few light sprinkles in between some cloudiness that played with the lighting all afternoon.
The car show had a good crowd with the Scavengerettes charity bake sale going and some free prizes and giveaways to be had.
An assorted collection of cars showed up. The classics came and went in style, but it was the motors that really kept grabbing our attention. There were several tricked-out powerplants, from big turbo’ed rides to big-old-honking-engine rides. Got to love it when the engines are topped with multiple carbs or a huffer.
On that same note, there were several S-10 trucks with small block V8 conversions. Always wanted to take a spin in one of these. And speaking of trucks, more and more keep stopping by, too.
Check out the slideshow to view all the cool wheels from the Scavengers Car Show.
A search for an official Scavengers Twin Cities Auto Club website turned up empty. A few notices from Hemmings.com website (http://clubs.hemmings.com/scavengers/history.html) and the Gopher State Timing Association (http://www.gstarod-custom.com/clubs/scavengers/scavengers.htm) tell more about the organization.
