One suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery that took place at the home of Scotty McCreery and the friends with whom he shares the apartment. Fox News reported on Wednesday that 19 year-old Mikkail Jamal Shaw has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy. The suspect apparently turned himself in.

CMT reports that the home invasion, which took place early Monday morning, was much more scary than originally revealed. According to the report, the three gunmen broke into Scotty McCreery’s home and forced he and his three friends to lie facedown at gunpoint. A pistol and an assault rifle were the weapons of choice in this crime, resulting in quite a terrifying experience for the victims.

On Tuesday, Scotty McCreery was keeping mum about the incident for the most part while the investigation got off the ground. Whether or not American Idol winner and country singer Scotty McCreery being a high-profile victim had anything to do with the first suspect surrendering himself, is not yet clear.

The suspects who robbed the home on Monday morning had escaped with cell phones, electronics and cash. Thankfully, as the victims cooperated, the suspects fled the scene without harming anyone.

Scotty McCreery is undoubtedly relieved to hear of the suspect’s arrest, but the incident won’t completely be behind him unless the other suspects are apprehended. By Tuesday, the country artist was feeling the weight of the trauma he’d experienced when he tweeted to fans that he was enjoying a beautiful day in North Carolina and had a lot to be thankful for.

Scotty McCreery is a North Carolina native and has been attending North Carolina State University while still pursuing his musical career. The apartment where the robbery took place is just a short drive from the college campus.

Despite the week’s frightening start, Scotty McCreery’s “See You Tonight Tour” is scheduled to go on. His next stop is Bakersfield, Calif. on May 9.
