The Scarlet Knights improved to 12-4 and 3-2 in the Big East after defeating South Florida last night by a score of 70-67 at the RAC. South Florida drops to 9-7 overall and winless in the Big East. Rutgers is now tied for fourth place in the Big East with Cincinnati.
This was a good win for Rutgers after previously losing to Cincinnati on Saturday night. Wally Judge led the team with 14 points while Eli Carter and Myles Mack chipped in with 13 points each. The team was able to sneak by the Bulls because they only turned the ball over six times all night. They also won the rebounding battle by a 28-24 margin.
South Florida was led by Poland Jawanza who came off the bench to drop in 17 points including three shots from beyond the three-point line. 15 of his 17 points came in the second half. The Bulls led this game at halftime 30-27.
Rutgers will have a tough test in their next game as the team travels to South Bend to take on the 20th ranked Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is coming off a 67-63 loss to St. John’s on January 15th.
