Sexual scandal now mars the Sarai Sierra death investigation, with "Kaylan K," the man she met online four months before seeing him in person, now claiming they had an affair.
Details include an alleged tryst with the mother of two once she touched down in Istanbul, although initially the suspect in her murder case claimed to police that they were merely friends.
Police have taken a semen sample from him along with the other persons of interest in the case, despite reports that sexual assault did not appear to have occurred based on earlier police statements.
An autopsy was completed on the vacationing photographer, with results not expected right away due to DNA and other analysis.
In addition to the claim by Kaylan K that he and Sarai engaged in sex one day prior to her departure date, there is also now reports from US authorities that she was in the company of hustlers in the city, keeping company willingly with men of a "criminal element," per the Post.
Fox News reports that Sierra's friend, Magdalena Rodriguez, who did not make the trip with Sierra due to financial issues, insists that "We know Sarai. We know she didn't run off with anybody." Rodriguez doesn't believe Kaylan K's statements to police.
I don't believe what he says for one second. Sarai wouldn't willingly and knowingly involve herself with people who did not have her best interest at heart," Rodriguez said.
Sarai Sierra's body is being flown home to the states on Thursday courtesy of a Turkish airline. And her family has uploaded photos taken by her during her trip that they had received prior to her death. A funeral is being planned, and proceeds raised from the sale of the photos is to go to her two surviving children.
