Actor Scott Foley stopped by “The Talk” today, March 18, to talk about his guest starring role as the dashing but mysterious Captain Jake Ballard on “Scandal.”
Foley's character was introduced in a rather creepy light and as it stands, Jake's intentions are questionable. “Talk” co-host Julie Chen asked Foley if Jake is a good guy.
Foley said, “It’s still up in the air as to whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy. It makes it much more interesting that way.”
We know Jake has been commissioned by Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) to watch Olivia (Kerry Washington). It looks like he’s building a genuine attraction for Olivia, though, and he doesn't bother to tell Fitz that he is the man she’s talking to on the phone and smiling at – and that they are going on a date.
However, Jake is new on the scene and could be hiding several secrets of his own. Is he dating Olivia because he has a romantic interest, or, is he working another agenda?
Whatever the case, Foley admitted to the ladies of "The Talk"that playing a creepy character is fun.
The moral lines are really blurred for all of the characters right now, even fan favorite couple Fitz and Olivia. Fitz killed a Supreme Court Justice and he, Olivia, Cyrus and several other key people are covering up the fact that Fitz’ election results were rigged – so, he really shouldn’t even be president.
Right now, Fitz has shut Olivia out and thinks he can trust Jake, who he’s connected to from his past. How will Fitz react if he learns Jake is actually dating the one woman he can’t seem to live without?
“The Futon Critic” episode summary for this week’s returning “Scandal” episode states:
“Olivia finds herself in the middle of a media storm, but this time she's on the opposing side of the oval office when Fitz's pick for Supreme Court Justice is caught in a torrid affair with Liv's new client, high-powered CEO Sarah Stanner (Lisa Edelstein). Meanwhile, Olivia and Jake continue their flirtatious relationship, while Huck takes Quinn under his wing and Harrison and Abby try to figure out where they stand with their friendship. Back in the White House, Cyrus and Mellie continue to fight for Fitz's attention, but someone else may already have it.”
So, Olivia and Jake are going to keep flirting. These two definitely have great chemistry, but, is Olivia ultimately flirting with danger in opening herself up to Jake?
We’re poised on the edge of our seats, waiting to see how it all plays out.
“Scandal” returns Thursday, March 21, 2013 on WJRT ABC12 in Flint at 10 p.m. EST. Click here for a local channel guide.
