“Scandal” star and recent Emmy nominee Kerry Washington stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Oct. 17 to chat with Jimmy Kimmel about her recent educational accolades, upcoming appearances and her hit show.
Kimmel commended the charismatic beauty for receiving an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts earlier this year from her alma mater, George Washington University. Washington admitted having a professor for a mom encouraged her academic pursuits. At one point, she even considered becoming a marine biologist. But, acting ultimately led her down another career path.
The soon-to-be “Saturday Night Live” host shared her excitement surrounding her upcoming comedic gig, which marks a drastic turn from the mind-bending, fast-paced drama and suspense that “Scandal” consistently delivers.
They discussed the fan frenzy surrounding the popular political series and Kimmel couldn't resist remarking on the wild response to the “Scandal” cast live tweets during the broadcast every Thursday. He asked if series creator Shonda Rhimes encouraged them to tweet and she replied:
“It’s not something that the network pays us to do or that we’re told to do. We do it because we’re super passionate about the show and because we’re crazy grateful to our fans for watching.”
When Kimmel joked she’d be over that by mid-next season she added, “Never! We love our Gladiators!”
For Gladiators at large, the feeling is way more than mutual. This week’s episode brought nail-biting suspense in which Olivia’s life was in the hands of a crazed mother with a grudge against the FBI for killing her son. Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) distress over his lady love’s peril pulled on the heartstrings of die hard fans who were once again left breathlessly waiting for the next turn in their tortured love story.
“Scandal” airs in Flint on WJRT ABC12 on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. Click here for a local channel guide.
