As we reported last fall, parents of students as well as students from our local college, Flagler College, were alerted to a Craigslist scam regarding housing. Since that article, many comments were added that the same scam was happening in other parts of the country including South Carolina, Indiana, Detroit, North Carolina, Oregon and more.
After speaking with several local residents of St. Augustine, including two students looking to make extra money, all turned to Craigslist.
After answering an employment ad for a receptionist position in St. Augustine, they all received an email with the same response. Keep in mind, each applicant has a wide variety of resumes and experience, including lack of experience yet received the same email.

Needless to say, it is to your benefit probably not to sign up.
Remember the old saying, when it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
In defense of Craigslist, they do post warnings about scammers, however many skim through some of the extra pages that will explain to use caution.
Be an educated parent, talk to your teens, especially those in college looking for extra money or housing.
Have you been scammed by this same email? Please add it in comments.
