"My kids could go and find $83 billion out of a $4 trillion budget..."
The Palmetto State's Republican governor held little back as she openly critisized both Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress in what she described as Washington's environment of "no leadership" and "no confidence" as reported by Yahoo! News on Feb. 25, 2013.
After a closed door meeting with the Chief Executive, Gov. Nikki Haley (born Nimrata Kaur Randhawa) left little doubt that she is the descendant of India's Sikh warrior caste.
After the National Governor's Association met with Obama for one hour, Haley told reporters that she queried him if he would consider an 11th hour plan to cut a mere 2 percent from federal spending without raising taxes.
Obama flatly responded "no."
Haley, the daughter of Dr. Ajit Singh (Lion) Randhawa and Raj Kaur Randhawa, Sikh immigrants from Punjab, India, showed she could be a lioness herself when she fired back at Obama:
"I could not be more frustrated than I am right now.
My kids could go and find $83 billion out of a $4 trillion budget.
This is not rocket science."
Not quite done letting the D.C. Establishment know exactly where she stood, the wife of a U.S. Army Officer flashed more than a little of her own steel.
"There is no leadership.
There is no confidence.
There is nothing that shows us that they actually care about what they're doing.
What they're doing is playing games, and we as the taxpayers are having to cover for their games.
We're not going to do it anymore."
With both Democrats and Republicans squarely in her sights, the Governor also noted:
"No one should be going home.
No one should be playing golf.
No one should be taking vacations.
There is something very wrong in this town."
Speaking Of Her Husband...
Governor Haley's husband, Captain Michael Haley (SC National Guard) is currently serving a one year tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Captain Haley is currently the only spouse of a sitting governor serving overseas in any of the various branches of the Armed Forces.
