It was with a heavy heart that many of the fans, followers and volunteers heard about the upcoming closure of World Peace Cafe. Volunteers received the following message:
"It is with mixed feelings that we inform you that the World Peace Cafe will be closing it's doors for good this coming Sunday, August 25th. While the cafe has been very successful (thanks to all of our volunteers) and a blessing to the community, it has taken away from our primary mission of the Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia (KMC GA).
We wanted to thank everyone for all you have done to support and help the cafe over the years. The cafe never would have been possible without the collective efforts of the volunteers."
The website also offered a similar message. The cafe has been in operation for 6 years and became a local favorite, offering exceptional teas, coffees, gifts and vegetarian friendly dishes and desserts. The premise was different than all restaurants in Atlanta, it was built with donations and the work of volunteers. All staff worked on a voluntary basis to support the cafe which is owned and operated by the Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia. All profits generated supported meditation classes and special events designed to help others find peace of mind.
