Let's face it, Monster, The Ladders and other job boards put a lot of money into promoting their wares. Their pitch is mighty seductive.
Send us your resume and wait for the phone to ring. Use the right key words and the job of your dreams will fall from the sky.
Nonsense.
Your job search has been taking enough time for you to be disillusioned, but still you put in the computer time to upgrade your accounts $$ and submit your resume to new sites.
Why? Statistics show less than 1% of professional jobs are filled from job boards. And worse, bad things can happen when you use them.
Use job search engines instead. They don't ask for your resume, they don't charge money, ask to upgrade your account and they don't sell your contact information.
Sure you have to wade through a lot of garbage, especially from job boards, but there are ponies in there. Use several, use them often.
