Cleveland OH- The noble Englishman of Saxon ,who hail from the UK, descended on Cleveland as they have done in the past . This time not to conquer but to thrill , awe and amaze . All bad puns aside this was a great show . The legendary English band Saxon played to a packed house yesterday at Cleveland’s own Peabody’s Downunder. On Tour with Fozzy and Halycon Way and in support of their latest release “Sacrifice .“ I have to admit I was not a first generation fan , I am newer fan so I consider myself a second generation fan but as singer Biff Byford states all fans are great fans . The night was hot and the club was steamy and dark as band hit the stage . They opened with “ Sacrifice “ which is also the name of their latest release . A great single which set the mood for the night . “ Wheels of Terror “ came up next also from the current release which is a fast moving song that gets the blood pumping . We all need some “ Power and Glory “ which is from the album of the same name, a true classic metal song they did extreme justice too . The metal gods would approve and as matter fact the they blessed us with “ Heavy Metal Thunder “ from the “ Strong Arm of the Law “ album . Then Biff asked the crowd what they wanted next which is usually not how it works but after a little while a good portion of the audience kept yelling “ Crusader “ which garnered the most cheers from the crowd as it also comes from an album of the same name . Up next was the beautifully played Celtic inspired “ Made In Belfast “ another song from their newest release . Both guitarists in this band are extremely accomplished players and work well together like a well oiled machine . “ Dogs Of War “ came next and with it the great line “ Dogs of war , it’s the day of the jackal “ I am so glad I finally got to experience this band live , a memory that will live with me always .Up next was the “ Motorcycle Man “ which really got the fans engine turning . “ Rock N Roll Gypsy “ which is about life as a rock star traveling from town to town and all the excess that goes along with it . The band played a new song in the form of “ Guardians of the Tomb “ which really went over well as the audience shook their fists in the air . “Dallas 1 pm “ came up next as lasting reminder of the tragic untimely death of President Kennedy . What’s that noise, well that’s a “ 747” and its loud , huge and in your face like Saxon which really went over well with the fans . The next song is probably their biggest and most famous song . It rings like an anthem to metal fans everywhere and so I am talking about “ Denim and Leather “ The overwhelming voices singing the chorus was almost deafening .Up last was “ Wheels of Steel “ and like all the previous songs was also eaten up by this metal hungry crowd . The bands line up is Biff Byford -Vocals, Paul Quinn-Guitars ,Nigel Glockler-Drums ,Nibbs Carter -Bass and Doug Scarratt- Guitars .The band is tour until Oct 10 , 2013 so check out their official website http://www.saxon747.com/ to see if they come to your town , This is one show you can’s miss !
