Those venturing to the Pacific Northwest might want exploration of Portland's growing urban winery scene.
Enso Winery kicked off the summer season over Memorial Day Weekend with a celebration of their third year anniversary. This artisan winery and tasting lounge, located in the heart of Portland’s Eastside hand crafts wines that are expressions of the moment—ensos—in the truest sense of the word. Among their new releases are a new Dry Riesling, Cab Franc Rosé, Pinot Gris Rosé, and their Portland Sangria.
On Sunday June 8, 2014, wine aficionados will gather at Refuge PDX (116 SE Yamhill Street) in Portland to savor the PDX Urban Wine Experience 2014. Here eleven winery members of the PDX Urban Winery Association will be pouring two to three wines with small plates provided by Crown Paella, plus sampling and sales of local products by Jacobsen's Salt, Portland Creamery, Tabor Bread and Tabor Tavern. Also, bottles of wine will be available for sale. Tickets are available online through Thursday, June 5, 2014 for $32 or will be available at the door for $40.
Later this summer, one can stroll around to the different wineries during the next PDX Urban Wine Weekend which will be held August 9-10, 2014. In particular, be sure to pay a visit to Fausse Piste, the newest member of the PDX Urban Winery Association.
Then the following weekend, raise a glass to Hip Chicks do Wine's15th year anniversary. Come celebrate this pioneering women led winery who have been at the forefront of the PDX urban winery movement.
