Love a good mystery? Plan now to attend the Mystery Writers Key West Fest, scheduled for the weekend of June 13-15, in Key West, Florida.
Shuttered cottages, shady streets and a past that includes a legacy of literary heavyweights make Key West the perfect location for a festival focused on mystery and detective fiction.
Events at Mystery Writers' Key West Fest 2014 will include meet-and-greet parties, panels on mystery writing and publishing, a noir film night, book signings, an author-led foray into Key West's bars, and more. Acclaimed mystery writers will share insights with readers and aspiring authors will have a chance to pitch their books to editors and e-book publishers.
Festival highlights include author William E. Butterworth IV (half of the team that writes best-selling fiction as W.E.B. Griffin) guiding a Key West bar stroll the evening of Friday, June 13, and speaking at a luncheon scheduled for Saturday, June 14.
A day of panels on Saturday, June 14, will cover topics ranging from “Women of Mystery” to the realities of e-publishing. Presenters include Heather Graham, author of more than 100 novels and novellas; Don Bruns, renowned for his Caribbean mysteries; Jeremiah Healy, specializing in private-eye and legal thrillers; and Michael Haskins, author of the fast-paced Mick Murphy series set in Key West itself.
Cost of the festival is $98 per person. Special room rates are available at the host hotel, Key West’s Doubletree by Hilton Grand Key Resort. Mystery fans should register early.
Whether you're looking for used beach reads, a rare edition Hemingway or books on Keys history or cuisine, Key West Island Books is a must-stop shop for booklovers in Key West any time of year.
