For nearly a decade, Savor Dallas has been the largest food and wine festival in North Texas, and the 2013 Savor Dallas promises to be no exception to the grand tradition of Texas-sized celebrations. Beginning tonight, and running through March 17, Savor Dallas showcases local chefs and stunning venues throughout the City of Dallas and at the Irving Convention Center. From indoor and outdoor wine strolls to a massive celebration of food, wine, and premium spirits on Saturday evening, Savor Dallas offers a diverse array of events to suit everyone from the casual wine aficionado to the most serious cuisine savant.
Savor Dallas kicks off this evening at the brand new Trinity Groves retail and dining incubator. Several restaurants who have planned openings in the coming months will be on hand for diners to sample food and libations, along with live music and other fun in the shadow of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.
Although the Wine Stroll at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is already sold out for this year, we'll live tweeting from the event on Friday evening and providing a full recap complete with photos. Proceeds from the wine stroll (which also features a selection of premium spirits and beer) directly benefit the museum's "Campaign for Excellence".
Saturday is a big day for Savor Dallas, featuring Tasting Seminars at the Warwick Melrose and the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Following the seminars is the Reserve Tasting featuring reserve wines and spirits, followed by the International Grand Tasting. Both tasting events are at the Irving Convention Center, convenient to DART Rail. Of course, with all those fine wines and spirits available Yellow Cab of Dallas has partnered with Savor Dallas to provide responsible transportation options for event-goers. The International Grand Tasting is also available at a special rate for designated drivers to enjoy all the food without worrying about any of the alcohol when they get behind the wheel.
For those looking for an upscale St. Patrick's Day Celebration, Savor The Arboretum provides even more samples from the kitchens and wine cellars around Dallas. We'll also be reporting from this event, which benefits the Education Department at The Dallas Arboretum.
