Update 2:50 pm PST - Sally is safe. There was an overwhelming response for her. Thank you to everyone who helped network her information!
Update: A photographer has captured the real Sally. New photos have been added which better reflect her true beauty. Of special note, the photographer remarked that Sally is very well-behaved. Please network her before her precious life is lost. Thank you.
Hillsborough County, FL - Sally's unkempt coat and underweight body are tell-tale signs that her life has been less than idea.
She can't help that fact.
She did not choose to have owners who treated her less than kind.
Sally is an 8 yr-old German shepherd who was turned over to the Hillsborough County Animal Services facility by her owners. Her surrender came from the "prompting" of a neglect case.
Despite her troubled past, the shelter staff describes her as "very sweet". They note that she likes to give kisses.
She also enjoys the companionship of other dogs at the facility.
Sadly, Sally may never know what it means to have her affection returned. Her time was technically up last week.
Someone networking on her behalf has been given until this Thursday (2/23/12) to find someone to take her in...otherwise, this sweet dog who has lived a less than stellar life, will be gone forever.
Sally's situation is bleak, but she is blissfully unaware that her days are numbered. In fact, according to the woman who is networking on her behalf, she seems "happy" at the shelter.
How pathetic must her prior life have been if an animal control facility seems better? Before now, had she ever been inside of a building, or was her life outside on a chain or forgotten in a backyard?
Did she ever have the chance to give a person a kiss or receive the touch of a kind hand upon her beautiful head?
Sally deserves to have a chance to know these acts of kindness.
Sally deserves a to know the comfort of laying on a soft bed and enjoying the companionship of her own person.
Please take a moment to network Sally. Those who may be able to assist Sally in leaving this facility are asked to contact: Debbie Taylor, 813-612-5380
If a rescue steps forward to rescue Sally, please email me at Eims1@live.com so that I can write a follow up story.
Of note: Sally is not altered, and sadly, she is heartworm positive. She will need veterinary care when and if she leaves this facilty. Please click Sally's name to see her ID number and shelter information.
Time is of the essence - please do not hesitate to network this beautiful dog. Every comment, share and Tweet puts her one step closer to being safe. Thank you.
