The Holiday season is usually a great time to go see a movie. There are so many films such as the new Disney feature Frozen and starting on December 20th, Disney has released a new movie 'Saving Mr. Banks'.

A Great Time and a Great Movie

The 'Saving Mr. Banks' film centers on the 1961 negotiations between Walt Disney and Mary Poppins author Pamela "P.L." Travers as well as the making of the classic 1964 musical Mary Poppins. The movie also transitions between Traver's early life in 1907 Queensland, Australia and 1960s Southern California.

The film stars Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers and Tom Hanks as Walt Disney. B.J. Novak plays the role as Robert B. Sherman and Jason Schwartzman as Richard M. Sherman. The Sherman Brothers were the main composers of the Mary Poppins musical with songs like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Let's Go Fly a Kite. Ruth Wilson and Colin Farrell play Traver's parents in Victorian-era Australia.

Filming primarily took place at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank which was where features such as Sleeping Beauty, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Fantasia were filmed and created. 'Saving Mr. Banks' was also filmed at Disneyland in area such as Fantasyland, Main Street USA and attractions Astro Orbitor and Sleeping Beauty Castle. The film's trailer also features the nostalgic King Arthur's Carrousel.
