‘Saved by the Bell’ TV movie trailer features hormones and hookups (Video)

This could be the Lifetime movie of a lifetime. The upcoming TV movie “The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story,” which is set to premiere Sept. 1st on Lifetime, will give a behind-the-scenes look at the real lives of the cast of the iconic ‘90s sitcom. And on Monday, the long-awaited first trailer for the TV flick was posted by The Wrap.

The short clip is sure to please Bayside fans, and it features a couple of characters going in for an unscripted kiss, channeling some of the steamy behind-the-scenes hookups that Dustin Diamond referred to in his 2009 memoir, Behind the Bell.

While Diamond's book didn’t exactly paint his real life experience on the show in a positive light (he played the nerdy character Screech on the show), his co-star Mark Paul Gosselaar begged to differ. In an interview with HuffPost Live the former Zack Morris said, “Everything I've heard about his book is it is negative. I don't remember those things. My experience on the show was very positive."

The actor also made it clear that none of the members of memorable iconic cast – himself included – were “involved in any way" with the movie. Lifetime previously announced that the movie was based on multiple hours of interviews with people connected to the show.

Diamond has actually distanced himself from his book himself. In an interview last year with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN update show “Where Are They Now?,” Diamond revealed that his ghostwriter misconstrued some of his statements and added that he was never given a copy of the manuscript to review before it was published.

After his days on the teen sitcom ended, Diamond went on to appear in reality shows like “Celebrity Fit Club” and “Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling.” He also released a not-so-well received sex tape. Hopefully the new made-for-TV movie won’t flash forward past the ‘90s, because that’s a scene we really don’t need to see.

“The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story” stars “Degrassi” alum Sam Kindseth as Diamond, Dylan Everett as Gosselaar, Julian Works as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley, and Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies.

“The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story” premieres Sept. 1st at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
