If you have back to school shopping to do, or simply want to shave a few extra dollars off your shopping in general, you can save with the upcoming tax-free weekend in South Florida.

Every year, there's a sales tax holiday throughout many states, usually in the first couple of weekends in August geared towards back to school shopping. Florida's tax-free weekend 2013 is this weekend, August 2, 2013 through August 4, 2013.

Do note, however, the tax exemption doesn't apply to all items, and has a maximum spend limit. For Florida, here's the breakdown:

  • School supplies – $15 maximum
  • Clothing – $75 maximum
  • Computers – $750 maximum

Here's a link to the Florida Department of Revenue website for more detailed information on how they define the categories and the restrictions.

And to make the most of the savings this weekend if you're shopping for back to school, don't forget to check newspaper inserts and store ads to see who's offering the best discounts and coupons!
