Save some bucks at August wine sales

We all know about the “back-to-school” sales happening this time every year. But there is another sale in progress on the other side of the supermarket, a wine sale. And what better way to celebrate your favorite student’s return to the classroom than with a nice bottle of wine?

To make it even better, there are big discounts to be had. Yep, the winding down of summer holidays and vacations means that what is still on the shelves must move out to make way for fall inventory. This is often a serious clean out.

One of the better ones for most of this month is at many Phoenix area Fry’s stores. They are offering shopper’s card holders 30% off any wine when the regularly marked price is $20 or more.

This makes for an excellent opportunity to stock up a little early and save some serious cash. They are also offering their normal 10% off on orders of 6 bottles or more, right on top of the 30%.

Check of few of these good ones out:

Kenwood Jack London Zin for $22.39, the Federalist Zin for $20.99, J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet for $22.39, Beringer Knight’s Valley Cab $23.79, Mount Veeder Cab for $32.19. Even though these mark-downs end up being very close (a buck or so either way) to Total Wine’s prices, there may be a few that are sold out or not available at Total Wine (the Mt. Veeder and Kenwood for example), making Fry’s the best choice.

The sale does end on August 26th and that still allows time to decide. Note that some of the more expensive wines may go faster, just because they are not offered at these discount levels very often. If you don’t see what you’re after, check with the manager, they may be able to get it in before the sale is over.
