The long-awaited CA Dept. of Fish & Game's (DFG) “Striper Eradication” meeting will take place tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at the Resources Building Auditorium in Sacramento. This is a game changer for all species anglers.
Western Bass Director of Sales John Caufield noted today, “The CA Fish & Game Commission will be meeting to consider the proposed new regulations that will essentially eradicate the striped bass from our Delta waters, which would supposedly give salmon smolts a better chance for survival. If the bad guy water-grabbers succeed in this effort...largemouth may very well be next on their agenda.”
Public response will be heard at the meeting. Support for the California Delta fishery is needed.
This is the same meeting that the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance (CSPA) alerted anglers to and encouraged public action for with this request for a letter.
After hundreds of anglers represented themselves at a DFG workshop held in Rio Vista, Calif. in November the hearing on the proposed eradication was postponed. That postponement is here. The public opinion will be heard tomorrow.
More information on the November workshop can be found in a discussion by Dan Bacher.
The DFG agenda for tomorrow’s meeting can be found here.
Live and archived video coverage of Commission meetings are to be available for viewing at this site.
Thursday’s meeting will be held at;
