The nonprofit organization preserves and protects the historic cemeteries of New Orleans. In addition, preservation of cultural, historical and architectural plays a pivotal role of Save Our Cemeteries.
"Our tours are educational and entertaining - but no ghosts or vampires here," said Angie Green, executive director of Save Our Cemeteries. "The real stories are fascinating enough! As a nonprofit organization, we are also the only tour company where 100 percent of our tour revenue goes back towards cemetery restoration and education."
- In New Orleans, there are 42 cemeteries.
- Cemeteries are a fascinating place, containing the entire history of New Orleans in one location.
- Each of the 42 cemeteries holds a different slice of history.
It takes about 90 minutes to take the tour.

Tip #1: Visit the cemeteries, of course! Also, I recommend getting away from the French Quarter for a day or two, and exploring other neighborhoods in New Orleans, like Treme, Mid-City, and the Garden District.
Tip #2: Visit the website for the schedule on lectures and walking tours.
Tip #3: If you enjoyed the tour, you can donate, volunteer or become a member of this nonprofit organization to continue its mission to preserve and protect the history of New Orleans.
