Smoothies are a big hit for children and adults alike. My children (and spouse) are always asking for smoothies. After purchasing them for so long, I decided to start making them at home. I started making them myself for two main reasons.
- It is much more affordable for all I needed was a blender and few ingredients.
- I decide what goes in that blender. All natural and/or organic, if I wanted. I can also sneak in there minerals and vitamins my children do not get much of. For example, my children do not like to eat spinach. What do I do? I toss a handful of spinach into blender with bananas, peanut butter, milk and whatever else we may have on hand.
Smoothies are a mix of a drink, juice and creamy treat - so delicious! Great way to satisfy for a snack or protein, if it has enough.
Next time your child says "mom! I want a smoothie" toss whatever you have on hand into blender, add some honey or flavored yogurt and indulge!
