Lennox was seized from the home of Belfast resident Caroline Barnes on May 19, 2010 because he was labeled as a "pit bull type" dog, which are illegal in Northern Ireland.

The Belfast City Council dog warden took custody of the dog citing the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act. Since the seizure, Barnes has launched an international web campaign to win Lennox's freedom back, while the animal has been held under prison-like conditions.
The Barnes family filed their final appeal to save Lennox on October 21st.
The Save Lennox campaign has collected nearly 120,000 signatures from people demanding the dog's release.
