It took years before this semi-snob stepped foot into 99 Cents Only Stores but once I did I was hooked. This chain of discount outlets where everything’s actually a dollar often carries high end cosmetics, toothpastes, makeup and other items necessary for our beauty, health and hygiene upkeep.
You can truly save a bundle at the 99er where even my once reluctant husband nowshops on occasion. We often go to the one on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, along some pretty well-heeled folks who drive up in expensive wheels. We even caught a Bentley with a chauffeur dropping off his charge there once. Not only that we did catch a few celebs at the Hollywood location, too.
Anyhow why pay three to sometimes six times more for products when there’s probably a local 99 Cent Store near you. You know the supplies we need that seem overpriced such as cotton balls, Qtips, lipstick, mascara, skincare products (scrubs, day and night creams etc), they're a bargain there. And guess what else, they also stock fresh produce (lettuce, tomatoes, mangos, raspberries for yes .99 cents), eggs, milk and other edibles for often half the price of Ralph’s and Pavilions. Hey we ever saw some cool sports bras, undies, brushes, toys, and right now everything you need for Halloween.
It’s also the place to buy greeting cards that normally sell for $3 or more, yes for well you know.
Other discounts options include Family Dollar Stores, which also sells pretty good quality items but not always for a buck. However every item carried by The Dollar Tree is a dollar or even less. I stock up on my favorite toothpaste there that costs $4.99 and up at CVS.
Ladies and gentlemen listen up, why pay more on the same brands and labels? One word of advice though, inventory does run out and often when it does they never carry it again. So if you find an item that you really need buy it in bulk.
Check out the links highlighted above for store locations. And happy bargain hunting and don’t be shy you will be in good company.
