Before the season opens, Ravinia concert goers will get an opportunity to save 20% off their favorite concerts at the annual Ravinia Customer Appreciation Day. Not only will they get a chance to save on Ravinia tickets, but they'll also be treated to a special day at the park, previewing the season. Tickets must be purchased in person at Ravinia’s box office during Customer Appreciation Day.
In-park festivities begin at 9 a.m. when the box office opens, but guests will be allowed into the dining pavilion at 8 a.m. to fill out ticket requests. Pavilion tickets will also be available through the addition of temporary seating, added to the side aisles in the front section of the Pavilion. Additional seats are expected to sell quickly for Sting (June 7 and 8), Jackson Browne (June 26), Darius Rucker (June 28), Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls (July 2 and 3), Sheryl Crow (July 19), Heart (July 29), Steely Dan (Aug. 1 and 2), Josh Groban (Aug. 10), Journey (Aug. 20 and 21) and Chicago (Aug. 24 and 25).
Patrons will also enjoy brief performances by artists giving concerts at Ravinia this summer, including the Lincoln Trio at 9:45 a.m., Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute alum Marquis Hill at 10:30 a.m.; accomplished pianist Jorge Federico Osorio at 11:30 a.m.; and 2005 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World soprano Nicole Cabell at 12:30 p.m.
WFMT 98.7 will broadcast live from the park from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with host Carl Grapentine. and Ravinia President and CEO Welz Kauffman previewing the season and interviewing artists coming to the festival this summer.
Ravinia vendors and sponsors will also be on hand to greet guests with take-aways. Tails of Hope will bring pets in need of adoptive families. Levy Restaurants will sample items from this summer’s menus, including the new Sabrosa Latin offerings.
Clothing, picnic gear and souvenirs will be available at Ravinia Gifts for up to 50 percent off. Activities include an “instrument petting zoo” and free swing dance lessons to prepare guests for Ravinia’s June 14 Big Band Tribute to Benny Goodman.
