Hey South Florida! If you’re looking for something fun and frugal to do this weekend with the kids to kick off the holiday season, here are a couple of great events to attend: The South Florida Parenting Holiday Festival, or the Holiday Parade in Plantation.
The Holiday Festival runs both days this weekend, so you could attend both events if you want to…they’ll even have SNOW at the Holiday Festival!
South Florida Parenting Holiday Festival – Coconut Creek
2012 South Florida Parenting Premier Event
Nov. 17 and 18 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (both days) At the Promenade at Coconut Creek
The 4th annual South Florida Parenting Holiday Festival will take place at The Promenade, 4443 Lyons Road.
This event provides fun for the whole family, dozens of stores for holiday shopping, casual dining restaurants and snack shops and free parking.
Highlights of the event are the snow play area, which features a snow tubing hill, igloo and hills for snow play. Santa and Mrs. Claus come for a visit and Hanukkah is celebrated with crafts and games.
Local schools, medical and financial companies, home-based businesses and other exhibitors provide samples, games and giveaways along with product and service information. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Sun Sentinel Children’s Fund.
May The Force be with you as you meet and greet with Star Wars characters! Other activities include sports activities provided by The Miami Marlins, inflatables, joust, obstacle courses, human snow balls, bounce houses, face painting, crafts and stage entertainment.
Admission: Admission is $6 for children and adults. Babies under 18 months are admitted free. All activities are free with admission. Up to three children, each with their own Kids Fun Pass will be admitted for free with a paid adult. Kids Fun Passes can be purchased at the Holiday Festival entrance, Town Center at Boca Raton, Ace Superstores and SouthFloridaParenting.com.
Parking: Parking is free at the event, with the closest parking to the entrance behind DSW Shoes. Monarch High School lots are available for overflow parking as well. Come for the fun and stay for lunch and holiday shopping at more than 40 shops and restaurants at Promenade at Coconut Creek.

Holiday Parade – Plantation
The City of Plantation and the Greater Plantation Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 45th Annual “The Fountains’ It’s a Wonderful Life in Plantation” Holiday Parade, on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
Take a moment to get into the Holiday Spirit! Temperatures are delightful right now in South Florida with cloudless bright blue skies, people are getting ready for all the exciting holidays and the 45th Annual Holiday Parade will make its way down Broward Blvd. The parade will start this year with vehicles and floats at the corner of Broward Blvd and 441, with walking units and Marching Bands feeding in at East Acre Drive and Broward Blvd.
Santa will be at the Fountains immediately after the Parade, fom Noon to 3:00 p.m. This is a free event!
