Historic homes in Savannah, Georgia throw open their doors and garden gates in the city's 78th annual tour of homes and gardens from March 21 through 24.

Savannah's 2.5 mile square historic district is the largest urban historic district in the U.S. The district is laid out around 21 park-like squares, surrounded by historic homes and other buildings. The city also boasts a restored waterfront area, historic cemeteries, and market areas.

The tour of homes and gardens is a self-guided walking tour supplemented with a series of special events, entertainment and dining opportunities. Tickets are required for all events; walking tours are $45 and other events include craft demonstrations ($30), luncheons ($35), and special guided tours ($40-$90).
