The end of the year can be a fun-yet-stressful time for everyone. Between dealing with shopping at retail stores, chasing down lost packages from the post office, and planning out who's "doing Christmas" at who's house this year, there's a lot to be done in a small amount of time. Even doing a short blog like this can take some effort!
My suggestion to you? Take it a little easier and don't get caught up in running so many errands that you forget to enjoy the holidays with those you care about. One such way is to take a short drive at night and see homes that are decorated in Christmas lights! Being that this is coastal Georgia and 9 months out of the year people wear flip-flops and shorts (but will readily admit that 65 degree weather is akin to living in the Arctic), we still know how to decorate.
Personally I'd start things by visiting downtown and taking a stroll down Broughton St to see the lights and store decorations that are up, probably after hitting a coffee shop and getting something warm to drink. If you'd like to head out to the islands, be sure to drive down the neighborhoods leading up to the Savannah Yacht Club to not only see decorations, but beautiful homes as well. Wilmington Park over on Wilmington Island is also a great community with holiday spirit. If you're headed to midtown, make sure you go through Ardsley Park and Kensington Park as they're both well-established neighborhoods that you'll enjoy seeing at night. Further west is Southbridge, and I highly suggest anybody interested in a picturesque drive to visit this neighborhood. Not only can you spend a good amount of time here looking at lights, but the homes are just gorgeous to see. Finally, if you're going to be southside, then my suggestion would be to do a drive through the neighborhoods of Berwick, right off of highway 17. Lots of great home neighborhoods out there and you can easily see the pride of ownership while driving through them.
Enjoy your Christmas, and see you next year!
