Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of The Today Show, and her husband Mike Feldman announced the birth of their baby girl born on August 13, 2014, according to E online. This is the couple’s first child and she weighed in at 8.5 pounds and 19.5 inches in height. The sex was a surprise as the only one who knew was the doctor, the couple wanted to be surprised. Savannah told her fans that the baby has blue eyes, some blond hair, and the cutest chubby cheeks.
Savannah is considered an older mom giving birth to her first child at age 42, but this is somewhat the norm these days. She is so overjoyed as she didn’t think she was going to be given the chance to be a mom since she waited so long.
Her little girl’s name is Vale Guthrie Feldman. Vale is an old English name that stands for “valley by a stream,” a name that is quite fitting for her baby that is calm and serene – even though she is a typical baby who wakes in the middle of the night.
Savannah worked through her pregnancy and she was in the public eye for her viewers throughout her nine months. She broke the 25-30 pound weight gain rule and was relieved that her doctor said everything was going well and on schedule. Savannah is quite tall so she carried her pregnancy weight well. She had food cravings just like most pregnant women with peanut butter being her favorite. But, she said she had an appetite for just about anything in sight according to her blog that she kept on Today.com.
Her partner on the Today Show, Matt Lauer, was extremely happy for the couple and announced the baby’s birth live on the show. Pictures were shown on air for all to see.
