Savanna comes to Dallas Today

Not Savannah, Georgia with an "h", but Africa!

After seventeen months, the new 11 plus acres exhibit is open at the Dallas Zoo, just in time for the  Memorial Day weekend. The Grand opening is tomorrow, Saturday May 29th.

This is great way to get up close and personal with the animals of the African plains - elephants, giraffes, plus five new lions and three new cheetahs grace the Safari grounds. This is the largest new exhibit in almost twenty years zoo officials report.

Grab the grandkids and go see animals in their own habitat romp, play and interact. There will be all sorts of activities from native dances to temporary tattooing and authentic African drummers playing throughout the day. If you, like most of us, are just not able to go to Africa, this is the next best thing to experiencing a real safari. Great pains have been taken to duplicate the Savanna plains with mud pits, water holes, trees and grasslands. You can even reach out and touch some of the animals.

The Dallas Zoo is a great place to spend the day no matter what your age!
