Saunders Steps Down at Munford

After four seasons as Munford head football coach, Matt Saunders has resigned to take a job in the private sector.

"I did resign," Saunders said. "I have a unbelievable opportunity to join a company based in Memphis."

Saunders complied a 15-27 record in those years as the Cougars have made the playoffs the last two seasons.

When Saunders took over the Cougars they posted a 3-7 record in 2009 and 2-8 in 2010 but have since turned the program around.

The Cougars lost in the first round both seasons losing to Beech in 2011 and to Jackson Northside last season.

Saunders started his football career at Briarcrest in 2000 and then was a graduate assistant at Ole Miss for the 2006-07 seasons.

He then moved to Jackson Prep (MS) where he was the Offensive Coordinator in the 2007 and 2008 seasons before coming to Munford.
