Saudi Arabian drifting aka 'Saudi drift'

Drifting has many variants and techniques used throughout the world. Each nation is has an independent choice upon how to interpret and engage in the sport of drifting. Some are amateur and perform underground style drifting, while others compete in professional sanctioned events. In Japan for example, they use touge mountain roads that are curvy for drifting. This takes a special type of skill to perform as the stunt is very dangerous and pushes the limits of the vehicle.

Other international automotive performance scenes

In America, we tend to drift through city streets, parking lots, and at competitions using sanctioned events and a proper course. In Saudi Arabia, it is very flat for most of the land and amateurs tend to use wide and flat stretches of interstate for their drifting pleasures. Everyone loves the sport of drifting, but each individual has their own idea of what drifting really is. The only constant in drifting is with sanctioned events, and even those have global variants.

Using the long stretch of road, amateur drifting in Saudi Arabia consists of taking a sedan and performing a side to side slide while maintaining speed of 70 miles  per hour or faster. This may appear to be easy, but controlling a vehicle that is sliding at these speeds depends greatly on reaction time, practice, and the quality of chosen chassis. It is very dangerous because groups of people gather on the side of the road, and it would only take one wrong move to send a vehicle flying into a large group of people at fatal speeds. I've got to hand it to these Saudi's in the following clip, they have no fear. Sliding and spinning, check out the wide array of vehicles used in this amateur Saudi Arabian drift clip!
