In Wicca, we often talk about the Goddess and her many faces, but Paganism teach us about duality and the combination of the God and Goddess. Jan. 10 is a day that corresponds heavily with Saturn in part due to the correspondence between Capricorn and Saturn. This day is a day of gods and a good day to honor Saturn.
The Romans refer to him as Saturn in Greece he goes by the name Kronos, and the planet Saturn was named after him. He was a highly paranoid father and the ruler of the Greco-Roman gods. That is, until he was deposed by his son Zeus (also known as Jupiter). In some stories it would seem that the Roman gods were always at war or in disagreement with each other in one way or another and often carried with them some sort of weapon or other such symbol.
Saturn was often seen with a sickle, which links him with the harvests, Old Father Time, and even the Grim Reaper. He is also know to be a stern father figure and brings to mind an image of a stern farmer holding his sickle as he works hard to provide and protect his family. In his fathering role Saturn reminds us to work hard for security in life and he corresponds with self-discipline and career issues. When it comes to career matters, think of Saturn, use him as your focus in meditation and look to him for advise on these matters.
