Saturday, the Powerball jackpot soared to $317 million with thousands of people choosing numbers for the Sept. 14 drawing. According to MSN, the payout would be near the top 10 highest ever... that is, if someone wins the lucky jackpot prize by matching five numbers and the Powerball. With all of the hype surrounding the lottery game (which seems to come around every few weeks now), people find themselves wondering what numbers they should play.
"Quick Pick" vs. Choose Your Own Numbers: What Powerball Numbers Should I play?
Many people struggle with the decision believe it or not. While most big jackpot winners play "quick picks," a lot of people feel as though they have a better shot by choosing numbers that might be sentimental to them. Since your chances of hitting the lottery are low either way, choosing your own numbers might be a fun way to enjoy the game. However, choosing your own numbers would make your chances a little bit lower.
Saturday Powerball - Where to Play
You probably know of a "lucky" store in your town to play the lottery. Many times, these stores advertise that they have seen big winners in the past. While a lot of people go that route, you may also consider picking up a ticket in a town you rarely go to. A "hole in the wall" kind of place or even a place out of state if you happen to be passing through. Also, supermarkets seem to be picking up momentum since a couple of the last few winners purchased tickets in these locations.
Other Things to Consider
Playing Powerball in a town where a previous winner was drawn isn't a good idea. The chances for the same store hitting twice are astronomically low never mind the same town. Next, you may want to consult the Powerball website for odds on what numbers come out most frequently. Lastly, keep in mind that millions of people will lose so whatever your strategy might be, you'll likely be in excellent company after tonight's drawing.
Saturday's Powerball numbers will be drawn at 11 p.m. EST. What numbers will you be playing?
