Saturday Night Poker League to play for Boy Scout Troop 1910 of Keller

The Saturday Night Poker League has announced the date of the 6th Annual Bill McKissick Memorial Poker Tournament. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, April 14, in Grapevine, Texas.

Like in past years the league has elected to benefit a local group with all proceeds from the event, raffle and donations. This year Boy Scout Troop 1910 of Keller, Texas will be the benefactor.

The Elk’s Lodge in Grapevine, Texas will again be the venue for the tournament. Players have already started reserving their seats, and many raffle items have been donated to this great cause. The theme of the raffle this year will be outdoor sports and camping. Raffle tickets will be $5 each or five for $20.

The winner of this year’s event will be awarded a trip to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas along with a seat in a $1500 Buy-in to a WSOP event. The player finishing second will win a seat in a $1000 Buy-in WSOP event.

Tournament director Lee Estep will be managing the event this year in hopes of drawing a record crowd of players. Last year’s event seated over 25 players with WSOP experience among the 65 plus players, raising over $8000 for Angelina Safford Charities. With the timing of the event, along with an ever expanding player field this year the event has a goal of raising $12,000 for the Boy Scouts.

“In a time in our country where we need more people to step up and spend time with our youth, the Boy Scouts are the perfect place for the league to focus on helping.” Estep explained when asked why the Scouts? “We intend to help these young boys have the tools they need to be vital parts of the community for years to come.” Estep added.

With this event in the infant stages, I will be reporting weekly on the progress, updating the list of raffle items and sponsors. My next article will be on the workings and history of Troop 1910 of Keller. Check back weekly or subscribe below for updates to be sent to your email address.
