Saturday night model train event delights Minnesota kids

If you have a little train lover living under your roof, reserve an upcoming Saturday night for a family excursion to the Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul. Each Saturday through Feb. 27, the museum hosts its family-friendly Train Nights.

From 6-9 p.m. each Saturday, the museum turns down its lights and lets the model trains travel the tracks through illuminated city scenes. Kids love watching the trains' headlights move through the dark. The imaginary town of Mattlin is all aglow, complete with tiny holiday lights and decorations.

Admission to Train Nights is $7 per person or $20 per family, but free for kids ages five and under. Also, the museum will host a special event on Valentine's Day, featuring circus trains and movies from noon to 5 p.m.
