It is that time of the year again where a nip is in the air, dead leaves litter the ground, wives lose their husbands to the lure of football and everyone’s favorite dive bar hosts their annual tribute to the ‘Man In Black’.
This Saturday night the place to be is in the intimate confines of the Star Bar as a plethora of local musicians hit the stage to pay homage to the musical genius of the one and only Johnny Cash. Ice cold beer will be flowing freely as the packed crowd sings along with tunes like “I Walk The Line”, “Cry, Cry, Cry” and “Folsom Prison Blues”. With a full line-up of musicians I am sure Mr. Cash’s catalog of music will be greatly represented. I myself would like to hear one or two of his gospel tunes as well as some songs like “One Piece At A Time” or “Ballad Of A Teenage Beauty Queen”.
In addition to supporting local music the night is also a benefit for diabetes as well as a celebration of new owners of the legendary Little 5 Points landmark. A night out to listen to great music, drink cold beverages and help out worthwhile cause is a win/win/win situation if you ask me. So deck yourself out in black, or not, and make way to the Star Bar for a damn fine evening of tunes.
