Saturday, a 6-month-old girl died at New York City’s Central Park Zoo when a tree branch fell killing the girl and seriously injuring the mother. The father was taking a photo of the two at the time in front of the Sea Lion exhibit, and a tree branch broke above them and fell.
The girl's father was taking their picture near the sea lion exhibit when a branch above them suddenly snapped. The mother, 33, and daughter were taken to a nearby medical center, and the baby was dead on arrival. The mother is in critical condition and expected to survive.
According to CNN, nearby witnesses reported that the baby girl did not cry at all when the branch hit, leading people to believe that she died instantly.
The baby was identified as Gianna Ricciutti from Union City, N. J.
The Wildlife Conservation Society spokesman, Max Pulsinelli said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family."
This is the second accident caused by a falling tree branch at Central Park this year. In February, a man was killed when a tree branch that was heavy with snow fell on him.

How awful, my heart goes out to the family.
Also must add that CNN shows extremely poor taste for choosing a TBS comedy ad to run before this tragic story.
