Satoru Iwata is a big problem for Nintendo

The Japanese Business Journal has recently reported that Nintendo's management is upset about their current financial situation. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's President, has made his stance on smartphone gaming very clear. In his mind, he thinks putting Nintendo software on smartphones could hurt the company long-term. The management teams within Nintendo, however, are reportedly eager to port Nintendo games to iOS and Android devices. This opposition isn't helping Nintendo one bit.

Sales of Nintendo's Wii U console have been dramatically overwhelming. Extremely well-received games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World boosted sales for the system slightly, but nowhere close to expectations. Mr. Iwata is a very smart business man and he has a clear vision on what he needs to do, but his decisions with the Wii U console haven't made much sense especially when consumers think it's a simple add-on for the Wii which was released back in 2006.

It's extremely sad to see Nintendo in this current state. Mr. Iwata knows that his recent decisions weren't the best, but he plans to combat all opposition with the release of amiibo NFC figurines and the mysterious QOL project. If these 2 future projects fail, I feel like Iwata will have no other choice but to step down as President. Without Iwata, Nintendo could eventually release their own smartphone or gaming tablet. In the long run, I'm sure Nintendo will be fine, but Iwata now has even more goals to reach in terms of likability and progress.
