Satisfying the urge to splurge without stressing your budget. When you get the urge to splurge, it can be satisfied with visits to several of our favorite thrift shops. They are always treasure troves waiting to be discovered and, in every case, the proceeds from the sales help worthy and necessary causes and services in our community. We did not spend a fortune, but we came home with some real winners after an afternoon at Good Will, Stepping Stones, Sunshine Thrift Store and His House.
Among the items found at very thrifty prices was a gorgeous two piece dressy black dress by Positive Attitude. The skirt is ankle length and flared, completely lined so there is no need for concern or for a long slip. The top is embellished with black glitter and bugle beads add to add to the dressy appearance. Designed with an uneven hem, it’s a trend-setter. It’s is very lightweight, wrinkle free and packable.
Also found were 100% cotton low rise chinos from Gap in a hard-to-find tall length, Sassoon Signature boot cut denim jeans, straight leg denim by Liz Claiborne done in dark blue flowers on a cream background in a classic fit and slate blue straight leg denim jeans by Liz Claiborne done in an overall leafy pattern in classic fit.
All of these items are in excellent condition and the black dress and the Sassoon Signature jeans appear never to have been worn. The original tags are still on them.
An afternoon spent at our local thrift shops is an afternoon well spent once in a while. It's a great way to deal with the occasional urge to splurge without spending very much. The total cost for the fashions listed above was $7.25.
