Satanists rally for Governor Rick Scott

A group of Satanists will have a rally for Governor Rick Scott on Jan. 25. The organizers of the rally are Satanists who are members of the Satanic Temple. A press release for the rally says that the Satanists will be showing "solidarity" for the governor's approval of a legislation that will allow student voting on the allowance of school prayer in graduation ceremonies and other assemblies, according to a Yahoo! report on Jan. 15.

The Satanists released the following statement to the media,

“The Satanic Temple embraces the free expression of religion, and Satanists are happy to show their support of Rick Scott who–particularly with [Senate Bill] 98–has reaffirmed our American freedom to practice our faith openly, allowing our Satanic children the freedom to pray in school.”

The Satanic Temple also explained their intentions to raise awareness of their religion and they said they are misunderstood.

“God is supernatural and thus outside of the sphere of the physical. God’s perfection means that he cannot interact with the imperfect corporeal realm. Because God cannot intervene in the material world, He created Satan to preside over the universe as His proxy. Satan has the compassion and wisdom of an angel. Although Satan is subordinate to God, he is mankind’s only conduit to the dominion beyond the physical.”

A Satanic Temple spokesman said that the rally is mainly because of the governor's approval on the legislation involving student prayer, however, they do not necessarily support other policies from Governor Scott.

It is unknown whether Governor Scott is pleased to hear about the upcoming Satanic rally in honor of him.
