President Barack Obama took time away from all sequestration discussions and spent a quality family evening watching his daughter’s recital. The president attended his younger daughter Sasha Obama’s dance recital at the Strathmore music center on Feb. 23, according to Yahoo News.
The White House said that 11-year-old Sasha performed during a recital Saturday evening at Strathmore, a nonprofit arts center that hosts events and classes. Strathmore is located in North Bethesda, Md., about half-mile outside the Capital Beltway.
President Obama returned to the White House an hour after arriving at Sasha’s recital, Yahoo News reported. According to Strathmore web site, the recital was followed by a professional performance of “LUMA.”
The Hill reports that this is not the first time President Obama has attended a recital for an 11-year-old daughter. In January, 2010, the first family attended a recital for oldest daughter Malia Obama at Sidwell Friends School in Northwest Washington. Malia was 11 at the time.
