Joseph DeCarlo, 48, of Clifton Park was arrested on Saturday and charged with overdriving, torturing, and abusing a Standardbred harness race horse in a "cruel and malicious manner" at New York's Saratoga Race Track.
According to cbs6Albany, a week long investigation by the Stillwater Police Department resulted in DeCarlo's arrest for misdemeanor animal abuse; a Class A misdemeanor.
The horse is currently under the care of a veterinarian and is recovering from severe internal and external mouth injuries.
DeCarlo is scheduled to appear in Stillwater Town Court.
