Sarasota sports talk station WTMY 1280 AM has been sold. According to AllAccess.com which reports on radio station sales, Polnet Communications, LTD is selling WTMY to Meryl E. Heinemeyer’s Southwest Florida Radio Broadcasting, LLC. The reported sale price is just $75,000, a bargain even in today’s devalued radio station marketplace. The sale is expected to be finalized within 60 days.
WTMY was coming up on its two year anniversary as Sarasota’s sports station. No word yet on any format change. As of Monday afternoon and again Tuesday morning, the station was airing FOX Sports Radio programming in place of local programming.
WTMY sister station, WRXB in St. Petersburg is also reportedly up for sale by Polnet. WRXB is primarily a gospel music formatted station.
