(Sarasota, FL) Congratulations to Sarasota’s Sal Capaccio (aka “Coach Sal”) who filled me in this weekend on his new venture with WGR sports radio in Buffalo. He’ll be relocating to his home town in upstate N.Y. to host a Saturday afternoon show and a Buffalo Bills post-game wrap up on Sunday nights. In addition, he’ll be co-hosting a weekly TV show on Time Warner Cable in the Buffalo area.
Sal credits his nearly ten year stint as co-host of Comcast’s “Talking Sports” show in Sarasota with giving him the experience needed to fulfill his dream of working in media in his hometown. He’ll also continue his highly successful “Buffalo Bills Now” and “NFL Now” broadcasts on Justin.tv.
Bob Griese will join the Miami Dolphins radio network broadcasts this season as color analyst replacing the late Jim Mandich who passed away in April after a battle with cancer. Griese and Mandich were both part of the legendary 1972 Miami Dolphins team that went undefeated to a Super Bowl victory. Griese retired from his TV career last year as analyst on ABC and ESPN college football games but will be part of Dolphins radio play-by-play this season along with Jimmy Cefalo and Joe Rose.
Dolphins games are scheduled to be carried in the Tampa Bay area on WQYK 1010 Sports Radio.
